Sunshine and Second Chances by Kim Nash. Hitting the big 50!

What do four life-long best friends have to celebrate in gorgeous sun-drenched, sun-baked Portugal?

Hitting the big five-oh!

A long-ago promise brings best friends together to escape the confining pressures of their daily lives for a grand celebration and some much-needed rest and relaxation.

Olivia—beautiful and wealthy but feels stifled and taken advantage of by the incessant demands of her husband and children.

Debs—recently divorced, dejected, self-confidence at an all-time low, unmotivated, and prefers food to company.

Fiona—lonely, sole caregiver for her mother whose mind is slowly slipping, finds herself facing some serious decisions.

Samantha—widowed, her son off to university only contacts her when funds are low, feels discarded, and needs to make life changes.

After a few days of lazy sunbathing, ice-cold drinks, delicious meals and joyous outings, the warmth of the Portugal sun bronzes their bodies, and the shimmering ocean vistas soften their stressors. The friends confide in each other and through loads of laughter and some shedding of tears, set new goals, and plan for a brighter future.

Each of these remarkable women shines with vivacity and vulnerability. Their unconditional friendship, their unwavering support for each other, and their true desire for each other’s happiness make me wish I was part of their friendship set.

Chock-full of breathtakingly depicted scenery, the value of friendship, the importance of relationships, Sunshine and Second Chances, is an absolutely delightful read.
